This timber clad building was constructed as a new premises for Southfield Sporting
country clothing and gun shop. Construction methods used were kept simple and cost-effective,
with aerated concrete block external walls, prefabricated roof trusses and interlocking
concrete plain tiles. Softwood cladding was fixed externally to make the building
match adjacent stables.
The gun shop area of the building was a little more complex due to security concerns.
Galvanised steel mesh was fixed to all external walls and ceilings, steel security
doors installed at access points and security bars fitted across the window.
The project was finished internally with a complete decoration, installation of shelving
units to the shop floor and spot lighting tracks and construction of shop counters.
